C&S Companies is looking to hire a part-time business development professional in the Construction Management group targeting K-12 clients in the NY area.

The individual we seek will provide leadership to seek out, manage and direct prospective sales efforts in Central and Western, NY market place and implement strategic sales plans consistent with the site civils department's objectives. Must be able to understand the business environment of targeted market segments. This business development representative will also support the existing client base that C&S has developed and provide insight for seeking out new opportunities within existing client or customer organizations. This individual must have an understanding of the architectural, civil engineering and construction industry. Will develop, execute and lead sales and account strategies to achieve the maximum saturation of services within various private and public sector markets. Analyze the market and current business performance to aid in developing plan to achieve long-term growth objectives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and Construction technical understanding
  • Understanding of civil engineering profession and construction management profession with K-12 NYS Education System preferred
  • Strong communication and organization
  • Has experience in assisting team with proposal development and presentation materials
  • Actively participates in target client industry trade associations and strategic community and industry activities for lead generation and visibility of the company.
  • Understands and monitors current and anticipated market conditions.
  • Possesses a strong customer focus with ability to quickly evaluate customer needs and Company's ability to successfully and profitably meet those needs. Maintaining positive relationships with existing customers.
  • Identifies market trends and opportunities and communicates them to the technical champion and Department Manager.
  • Regularly attends events, conferences or client/prospect functions.
  • Annually reviews marketing material, proposal and presentation material for relevance, effectiveness and best practices compared to competitors.
  • Collaborates with internal teams on all customer presentations and production of proposal materials to ensure differentiated solutions.
  • 20% Travel

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum twenty years' experience in business development profession or design, construction industry. Experience in K-12 NYS Education System preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully expand new business and grow existing business.
  • Demonstrated connections with a network to include owners, owners representatives, architects, engineers and other professional services relationships that could be leveraged to create business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain dozens of business relationships while creating new contacts.

$35.00 - $50.00/hour*
