Part-Time Career and Community Engagement Program AssistantHourly Rate: $16.69Applications accepted through Friday, December 13, 2024 at 6 PM CTThe Career and Community Engagement Assistant is responsible for assisting in the promotion and execution of Career and Community events, programs, and initiatives. This is a part-time, 19 hours-or-less appointment on a schedule established by the Director of Career and Community Engagement. Availability to work some evenings and weekend days is required. The position involves completing assigned projects within established deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously. The Assistant must be able to acquire and develop software skills, and execute some basic design work. The Program Assistant must work effectively with faculty, staff, and the public in a high-volume environment.Applicants must submit:An online employment applicationCover letterResume or CVEssential Job Functions:Provide clerical and administrative support to the DirectorAssist in preparing for, and execution of, Career and Community Engagement events and activitiesAssist and monitor students and families visiting the career roomsMonitor supply levels and assist in preparation and ordering of suppliesMaintain career rooms, ensuring their readiness for public and internal useDevelop materials for print and social mediaFacilitate production of printed materials in the campus print shopServe as a Parkland brand ambassador to the communityOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Associate Degree2 years' experience as a professional in an educational settingMust successfully pass a criminal background check with fingerprintingExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn Parkland College's CRM (Slate), and new programs as technology changesAbility to learn design software and produce professional-looking documentsStrong organizational skills with the ability to multitaskStrong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people, including middle and high school aged students, and those with English as a second languageAttention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and qualityAbility to work some evenings and weekend daysIn an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment.
