CASEY COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Child Care Assistant or substituteDepartment: Family Resource Center/KidsTeamReports To: Child Care DirectorApproved By: Casey County Board of Education Date: May, 2016SUMMARY: Assists the child Care Director in implementing the district's licensed and ALL STARS rated child care program in conformance with local, state and federal regulations and requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists director in planning age and developmentally appropriate curricula addressing all domains and school readiness (for pre-K program) and enrichment activities (for school-age program).
- Prepare environment and supervise children in daily planned activities.
- Assist with recruiting children and providing orientation for KidsTeam participants and their parents.
- Provide for the health, safety and comfort of each child.
- Prepares and serves snacks (meals on days school is not in session).
- Participate in planning and implementing family engagement activities (minimum of 3 times annually) in accordance with ALL STARS.
- Provides daily janitorial and playground maintenance duties.
- Assists with maintaining attendance, financial, and other program records required for licensing, ALL STARS participation, food service, health and safety.
- Assists with developmental assessments for all pre-kindergarten participants.
- Assists with transition activities for program participants entering kindergarten.
- Assists with implementing lEPs for children with special needs served by the program
- Develops a personal professional development/growth plan and updates annually as required by ALL STARS
- Maintains required training hours (hire date to hire date) as required by licensing and ALL STARS
- Maintains CPR, First Aid and AED certification
- Completes TB skin Test as required by licensing
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to supervise small groups of children in various settings.
- Knowledge of child development, behavior management, KY Early Childhood Standards, KY Licensing and ALL STARS requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop effective relationships with children, childcare and school staff, parents, community members and stare regulators.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma: GED or qualifying documentation from a comparable educational entity; or Commonwealth Child Care Credential as described in 922 KAR 2:250; and
- A statement from a health professional that the individual is free of active tuberculosis, or a copy of negative tuberculin results, (required every 2 years)
- Criminal records check indicating that the adult has not been convicted of, or entered an Alford or guilty plea to a crime pursuant to KRS 17.165
- Child abuse and neglect check using the central registry in accordance with 922 KAR 1:470, indicating that the adult has not been found by the cabinet to have abused or neglected a child.
- In accordance with KRS 199.896, a staff person with supervisory authority over a child shall complete the following:
o Six (6) hours of cabinet-approved orientation within the first three (3) months of employment;o Nine (9) hours of cabinet-approved early care and education training within the first year of employment, including 1 ~/z hours of pediatric abusive head trauma training; ando Fifteen (15) hours of cabinet-approved early care and education training during each subsequent year of employment, including 1 Vz hours of pediatric abusive head trauma training completed once every five (5) years.Each staff person under eighteen (18) years of age and each student trainee are under the direct supervision of a qualified staff person who meets the requirements of this section; and unless providing care with a qualified staff person, a person under the age of eighteen (18) shall not be counted as staff for the staff-to-child ratio.The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (A.
