- Assist in the daily care of children and implementing Creative Curriculum
- Maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher and will receive direction and ideas from the Lead Teacher
- Assist in providing a safe and fun environment for the children to play, learn, and grow
- Cleaning duties as outlined in the classroom cleaning checklist
- Paper work including daily activity sheets, accident reports, and portfolio documentation on each child's learning, progress, and development
- Continuing education including classes, conferences, workshops, and in-services to enhance the knowledge and understanding of teaching; Completion of 16 clock hours per calendar year
- Communication to director regarding issues, concerns, supplies or needs within the classroom
- Appropriate communication to other staff members, children, parents, etc.
- Work within the guidelines of the YMCA's mission, areas of focus
- All other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age
- Must be responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and able to communicate effectively
- Previous child care experience
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid (will provide training if needed)
- Must have good oral and written communications skills, including computer skills
- Outgoing personality and experience engaging with the public by phone and in person
- Current CDA credential (recommended)
- Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework (recommended)
