GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTIONProvide primary health care services for the Utica Campus students and staff; participate in Campus health promotion programs; and perform related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:Provide basic and primary health care to individuals in an independent and professional manner; provide appropriate emergency response and crisis intervention; communicate effectively individually and in groups with a diverse population in meeting health related needs and about a variety of heal related topics; make appropriate referrals and facilitate access to both private providers and community health resources; apply principles of infection control; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Mississippi and active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury using the process described in the standardized procedures and other licensing standards.
- Dispenses medications and administers vaccines from the formulary as defined in the standardized procedures.
- Tracks patient progress and provides follow-up services.
- Ensures adherence to safety, cleanliness and preparedness standards as defined by standardized procedures.
- Provides emergency response for the Campus including, but not limited to, administering first aid, crisis intervention, assistance with emergency transportation, and appropriate referrals.
- Researches health topics for students and staff; assists in creating health care literature and in health care promotion activities.
- Promote and participate in Campus health care activities and events to raise awareness of services. Assist the Health and Fitness Director in promoting health with focuses on:
- Exercise and healthy eating
- Dealing with stress
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol abuse
- Sexual and reproductive health
- Perform all other duties assigned
