Class Summary

The Part-time Clerk is responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative support duties and providing critical support to the daily operations of Gwinnett County Senior Services.

Essential Duties

* Performs a variety of clerical functions, which mayincludetyping, answering phones from the public and legal community, filing, copying, faxing, opening and distributing mail, and/or performing other related activities.

* Must be flexible and have excellent communication skills.

* Driving a county vehicle to support in-home services as required.

* Record keeping, data entry, and filing.

* Other duties of a similar nature or level.

Other Job Requirements/Information

* This position will require fingerprinting.

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or G.E.D.

* Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

* Valid driver's license from state of residency.

* CPR, First Aid Certified (must attain with the first six (6) months of employment or at the discretion of the department)

* Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications

* One year of administrative support or related office experience.

* Previous work with seniors.

Gwinnett County Health and Human Services administers programs, manages senior centers and senior services programs (home delivered meals, transportation, homemaker services, information and assistance, and case management), a community center, and two One-Stop centers that provide space for a variety of community programs and agencies.

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a mannerwhich stresses the County's values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
