Position InformationPosition Title Part Time College Nurse Position Category Part Time Staff Position Status 12 Month FLSA Non-Exempt Advertised Salary $37.13 per hour Department Wellness Center Working Hours Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm General DescriptionSUNY Niagara is seeking a part time College Nurse to work in our college's Wellness Center reporting to the Supervisor of College Nursing Services/Wellness Center. As a member of the Wellness Center, the College Nurse will work alongside the Supervisor, to assist in the operation of the Wellness Center. The Part Time College Nurse also serves as a substitute for the Supervisor of College Nursing Services/Wellness Center in their absence.Our exceptional work environment fosters growth and personal fulfillment. Provide assessment, evaluation, emergency care and/or first aid of accidents/injuries or illnesses for the college community.2. Provide referrals to a hospital, physician, psychologist, counseling center, dentist, or appropriate agency.3. Inputs confidential information regarding student encounters and related information into a computerized records system.4. Provide health/wellness counseling for students/employees including, but not limited to, maintaining good health through use of proper diets, rehabilitative procedures, immunizations, medications, disease process, and proper personal care as needed or requested.5. Assess immunization records, serology reports, and medical information and input into Banner.6. Administer required immunizations to eligible students and designated employees.7. Monitor health and safety issues for the college community.8. Collect, assess, and process physical forms for students in Allied Health programs according to requirements of each program. Provide clinical clearance to students once all requirements have been met.9. Complete Accident/Incident reports for the college community and visitors, forward reports to the appropriate parties and follow-up as necessary.10. Serve as substitute for the Supervisor in their absence.11. Assist with inventory of supplies in the Wellness Center12. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of College Nursing Services/Wellness CenterEssential FunctionsAbility to provide first aid; ability to transport patients via wheelchair; ability to provide CPR; ability to assess injury or illness using visual, auditory, and/or tactile assessment skills; competent computer skills; ability to speak to groups; ability to relate to senior administration as well as a diverse student population; knowledge of nursing techniques and their relation to medical practices and skill in their application; good working knowledge of medications, sanitation and personal hygiene; ability to follow technical, oral and written instructions; ability to keep records and make reports; ability to get along well with others; good observational skills; mental alertness; firmness; cheerfulness; patience; emotional stability; empathetic attitude toward the sick; willingness to work in an institution; good physical condition.Required Qualifications* Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or a Nursing Diploma from an accredited school of nursing;* Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State;* Current CPR certification;* Three (3) years of experience in the nursing health care field.Desirable Qualifications* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing or health related field;* Minimum of (1) year experience in a supervisory position in the nursing health care field,* Experience within the mental health field;* Teaching experience in health-related field.License(s)/CertificationsCurrent licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State;About SUNY NiagaraSUNY Niagara is a thriving educational institution located between the picturesque landscapes of Niagara Falls and the vibrant city of Buffalo, NY.
