Position Overview: The Workforce Development department at Trocaire College is making a difference by helping people transition to new careers in IT (Information Technology). We are looking for an experienced technical instructor who is responsible for creating a supportive, empowering learning environment for adult learners and delivering quality content area instruction in Instructional technology with the goal of having adult learners receive IT certification. Candidates must have prior experience teaching adult learners in a classroom setting as well as experience instructing the following courses CompTIA IT Fundamentals+, A+, Cloud+ and Security+ specifically. This is a contracted, part-time teaching opportunity on the weekdays. The instructor will teach lT certification courses to adult students in preparation to take the following CompTIA exams: FC0-U61, 220-1101, 220-1102, CV0-003, SY0-701. The instructor will have the opportunity to impact the future for each student, helping them begin the journey toward a career in technology.Primary Functions: Reporting to the Director of IT Certification Programs, the candidate will provide CompTIA Information Technology course instruction related to industry standard IT certification including the following:•Available to teach a live course either on campus or at a partner site in the area.•Implement the CompTIA curriculum to prepare students for successful certification in CompTIA courses.•Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning and engagement.•Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.•Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs.•Address CompTIA exam objectives to prepare students for successful certification testing.•Provide mentoring, coaching and guidance as students complete work towards certification exam.•Assist students in preparation and scheduling of certification exams.•Create, maintain, and update all student attendance, exam test dates, exam results and certifications.•Teach the functions and devices used within a computer system.•Demonstrate basic computer maintenance and support principles.•Obtain or maintain current certification in the course(s) taught.•Adhere to the Trocaire business casual attire. Clothing should be neat, clean, and without rips and holes. T-shirts, caps, hooded sweaters, and shorts are not permitted.Minimum Qualifications:•At least 3 years of IT related work experience. Current certification may be substituted for work experience.•Prior mentoring, coaching, or teaching experience of Information technology.•Good working knowledge of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.•Information Technology Instructors must provide official transcripts of bachelor's degree and certification on the subject being taught. If not certified, you must be willing to take and pass the CompTIA certification exams.Job Specific Competencies:•Effective presentation skills to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom to ensure maximum student motivation.•Effective communication and technology skills to effectively take command of the classroom setting to ensure maximum learning.•Elevated level of flexibility, creativity, and dependability to establish a high degree of instructor/student rapport.•Submit student progress documentation to the Director of IT Certification Programs: sign-in attendance, exam test dates, exam results and certifications.•Utilize all curriculum resources available upon approval from the Director of IT Certification Programs.•Work independently with minimal supervision.•Problem solves rapidly and effectively, in a timely manner.•Advanced subject matter expertise preferred.Physical Demands: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
