Dauphin County Parks & Recreation is currently accepting applications for the part-time docent position, with daytime and weekend hours, average 20 hours / week.
The overall objective of the employee in this role is to educate groups and individuals about the history of Fort Hunter and assist in providing security for the Fort Hunter collections.
Starting salary $12.48, commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
* Greets, orients and guides visitors through Fort Hunter Mansion.
* Teaches school workshop classes in spring and fall.
* Provides a security presence for safety of collections.
* Collects admission from visitors.
* Staffs the Museum Shop and operates the cash register and credit card machine.
* Performs daily chores, light housekeeping and office duties.
* Answers the phone and directs calls to the proper person or answers questions when appropriate.
* Assists in the maintenance of the Mansion gardens.
* Works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
* High School degree.
* No experience necessary.
OTHER DUTIES OF JOB:
* Attends meetings and trainings as required.
* Assists the History Educator with special events.
* Performs other job-related duties as required.
