Our Special Events department hosts everything from Weddings, to Galas and corporate functions. Our Education department creates memorable content for themed nights and weekends of fun for the whole family. The security team at the Science Museum gets to take part in all of it by engaging with our guests and clients, while ensuring their safety and the safety of our campus. As a part-time Evening & Weekend Security Officer, you will provide a friendly and safe environment so that everyone who walks through our doors can make everlasting memories. This is an essential position.The Science Museum provides 24/7 security, so this position requires flexibility to work hours within the following shifts: week day nights (4PM-12AM), weekends (Friday and Saturday 7AM-1AM and Sunday 7AM-7PM) and holidays. Training will be provided.Please note that this is a part-time position and hours will vary each week based on operations but no more than up to 29 hours a week on average with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate clearly across multiple platforms. Ability to work with a diverse public, and in a dynamic environment. Sufficient strength, agility and stamina to patrol our 18-acre campus, on foot and under all weather conditions. Ability to contact emergency services or Capitol Police and to clearly, calmly and distinctly report an emergency requiring assistance. Must be able to take initiative to resolve security or safety issues while remaining calm and level-headed. Fluency in Google workspace and a valid driver's license. Able to work days, holidays, evenings and weekends.Additional ConsiderationsSpanish fluency.
