Location : Youngstown, OHJob Type: Part-time FacultyJob Number: 202200032Division: Academic AffairsDepartment: EnglishOpening Date: 04/19/2024Bargaining Unit Status: Excluded from Any Bargaining UnitSalary Grade: PFSummary of Position The Department of English and World Languages at Youngstown State University is seeking candidates for our ongoing pool of part-time instructors for all composition courses: Introduction to College Writing (developmental writing and reading course), Writing 1 with Support (co-requisite writing course), Writing 1 (English 101 equivalent), and Writing 2 (English 102 equivalent). YSU offers in-person sections as well as online sections at various locations.Part-time composition faculty can be assigned up to 11 hours per semester of the above courses which are capped at 22 or 26 students. They must also be available for a minimum of one hour per course per week for student support. Applicants must have excellent oral communication and writing skills.Compensation is $820 per credit hour for a master's degree and $1,075 per credit hour for a PhD; contracts are offered on a term-by-term basis. Part-time instructors at YSU are eligible for partial tuition remission and are enrolled in the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS).Position Information Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations. Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
