Primary Functions: The Instructor must be able to teach a practical class/lab/clinical using a mixture of lectures, videos, and other tools to make the course a thought-provoking, engaging, and pleasant environment for the students. Other duties will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Prepare for and instruct established and approved Medical Assistant curriculum in a professional manner.
Must provide effective Classroom/Laboratory/Clinical instruction in discipline (Medical Assistant) using a mixture of lecture, video and other tools to engage students in the learning process.
Assigning and grading homework, tests, and projects.
Reporting, tracking, and analyzing student learning outcomes.
Clinical instruction in discipline.
Track student performance and attendance.
Grade student performance and report results.
Employ the college learning management system (Blackboard) and adhere to good instructional practices (examples include published syllabi, office hours, regular communication to students regarding grades earned).
Carry an allowable teaching load of credits per semester.
Supervise Medical Assisting Open Lab and maintain that the Lab remains fully functional with all necessary supplies needed for daily instructional activities.
Assist with student recruitment activities.
Demonstrated knowledge and ongoing professional development toward an understanding of advances and developments in field of Medical Assisting and relevant teaching methodologies.
Sensitivity to learning issues of adults and diverse cultures.
Any additional responsibilities will involve support of the Medical Assisting Department learning outcomes, activities and goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Medical Assisting.
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
Three years' experience working in the medical field.
Appropriate experience in the field of medical Assisting as evidenced by education and/or work experience.
Some teaching and administrative experience.
Ability to demonstrate a sensitivity to diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, preparation, learning styles, and / or disabilities.
Experience working in a clinical setting with extensive knowledge and experience working with medical assisting procedures and techniques.
