Description
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under supervision of Lead Grounds person, employee is to perform duties necessary to maintain grounds and hard surface infrastructure in a manner acceptable to the college.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, other members of the college and the public.
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate such equipment as utility and pick up trucks, snow plows, snow blowers, chain saws, power saws, pole pruners, vacuums, edgers, hedge trimmers, lawn mowers, spreaders, tractors, skid steers, front end loaders in a safe and efficient manner.
* Remove trash and debris from grounds, walks and roadways by both manual and mechanical means, service exterior trash and recycling containers.
* Maintain lawns and fields by mowing, trimming, seeding, applying turf supplements.
* Restore lawns and gardens through removal of plant material, amending soil, planting new grass, shrubs and trees.
* Maintain flower and shrubbery beds by weeding, tilling, watering, mulching, edging. Prune trees, shrubs and woody plants.
* Make necessary repairs to exterior structures, including but not limited to fencing, masonry walls, signage, walkways and roadways.
* Maintain storm sewer facilities including retention basins, catch basins, outfall structures, vortex basins, and pipe/sloughs.
* Remove Snow and Ice using mechanical and manual methods.
* Maintain and perform minor repairs to grounds equipment including but not limited to mowers, mower blades, vacuums, power washers, tractors, utility vehicles, spreaders, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
2 years landscaping or grounds maintenance.
OTHER REQUIREMENT(S)
Valid Driver's License will be required to drive to college vehicles various campuses when need arises.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is usually done outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather. Employee is subject to cuts and bruises from power, hand tools and plant material. May work from aerial lifts, ladders and scaffolds to perform normal work duties.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending. May routinely lift 80 lbs.
