  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow directions and learn new procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with teachers and students
  • Ability to project a friendly and supportive attitude
  • Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid training certification
  • Ability to learn and follow delegable medical procedures
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable
JOB GOAL To assist the school nurse in delivering an optimum level of health services to the District. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Utilizes protocol developed by the school nurse as a basis for care of students and staff.
  • Assists in the daily routine of the health room under the direction of the school nurse.
  • Provides first aid to students and staff.
  • Notify parent/guardian of ill or injured students according to protocol developed by school nurse.
  • Communicates health concerns to the school nurse on a daily basis.
  • Monitors, under guidelines, the medications which students take.
  • Maintains student health records, immunization cards, required forms, listing of new students and students leaving the District.
  • Accompanies sick or injured students to his/her home or hospital, when assigned.
  • Participates in District in-service programs, as assigned.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the building principal or school nurse.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Approximately 186 days per school year (dependent on full-time or part-time status and school calendar, as revised)
Compensation as per the SAESP Collective Bargaining Agreement and district guidelines
