Duties include preparing materials for experiments, maintaining lab cleanliness, and providing support to teachers during lab sessions. While prior experience is preferred, enthusiasm for science and strong organizational skills are essential. This position offers a great opportunity for contributing to the educational experience of our students. Strong candidates will have demonstrated the ability to collaborate with colleagues in an educational or a science related field. A love for supporting high school teachers and students is essential to this position. Above all, the successful applicant will have demonstrated a commitment to the principles expressed in the Ensworth Vision Statement, executing their role with moral integrity, intellectual vitality, discipline, compassion, humor, and joy.Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Abides by Ensworth's Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct.Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth's Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement.Assists science department teachers with setup and breakdown of labs and organization of lab equipment and materialsSet up laboratory equipment and materials for experiments according to provided instructions.Clean laboratory glassware, equipment, and work areas after experiments to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.Organize and store laboratory supplies and materials efficiently for easy access and inventory management.Order supplies and materials for laboratory experiments and general classroom needs in a timely manner, ensuring adequate stock levels.Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions as needed, providing support and guidance.Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and equipment maintenance activities.Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for students and staff.Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment as required.Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and vendors regarding supply orders and laboratory needs.Collaborate with colleagues to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.Work approximately 16 hours per week while school is in session; these hours can vary based on needs of the school.Qualifications/Experience:Bachelor's degree or higher in a related fieldExperience in a high school or middle school setting preferred but not requiredUnderstanding and ability to use computers and technology including google docs, spreadsheets, and online databasesHighly developed organizational skillsWell-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, and parents.Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essentialMust successfully complete background screening and verification Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) - Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate, occasionally works outdoors in varying weather conditions and climateRegularly uses close and distance vision, Works at a computer screen for extended periods of time, Ability to observe students from various distancesWorks at a desk for extended periods of time, frequently moves around campusAbility to occasionally move items 30 lbs. across the campus Sometimes works in a occasionally stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contactsStamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptionsAbility to regularly work flexible hours to support before and after-school or weekend events Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment.
