Job Description:
Bilingual HR Assistant HF Custom (formerly Sam Moore), a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation is looking for an HR Assistant to join their team in our Bedford, VA plant. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. We are looking for a highly organized Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive support to our HR team and ensure smooth administrative operations. The ideal candidate will excel in multitasking, possess strong organizational skills, and be adept at handling both routine administrative tasks and complex HR functions. Key Responsibilities:Data Management & Reporting: - Generate and maintain reports for the HR team and supervisors to analyze time and attendance data. HR & Public Relations Support: - Provide bilingual assistance with HR and public relations inquiries, including handling phone calls and addressing employee questions or concerns in both English and Spanish (bilingual preferred, but not required) - Set up new hires, process terminations, and update employee records with accuracy and efficiency. - Assist with new hire benefit enrollments, payroll questions, and employee policy clarifications in both languages. Administrative Duties: - Maintain bulletin boards and update service anniversary and birthday listings on the Hooker Resource Center. - Oversee inventory management of office and HR supplies. - Open, sort, and distribute mail, including invoices and packages, to the appropriate departments. - Perform bank and post office runs as needed. Event & Project Assistance: - Support the HR Manager in organizing employee events, special projects, and company initiatives. - Coordinate logistics and provide administrative support for employee engagement activities. Visitor & Candidate Management: - Serve as a welcoming and friendly first point of contact for plant visitors and candidates arriving for interviews. Screening & Compliance: - Conduct new hire screenings, including background checks and drug tests, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly. General Administrative Support: - Provide general administrative assistance to various departments as needed. - Handle additional tasks and projects as assigned by the HR team or other departments.Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in office administration or HR-related fields preferred.- Proven experience as an administrative assistant or in a similar role.- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages (preferred, but not required)- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (desired)- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.- High attention to detail and accuracy.- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and professional demeanor.- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.We Offer:- Competitive salary and benefits package.- PTO and Paid Holidays- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.- A supportive and dynamic work environment.Hours: Part-time 10 am - 3 pm Monday-Friday (there is some flexibility with the schedule if candidate prefers to work earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon) If you are a proactive professional with a passion for administrative support and HR functions, we encourage you to apply.
