BA-ECE, or 2. BA - Child Development. 3.MA in ECE and/or PEL ECE preferred. 4. Preschool teaching experience preferred. REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Curriculum & Instruction JOB GOALS: The instructional leader will support classroom education staff (teachers and teacher assistants) to refine their practices, improve instructional quality, and achieve mastery as early childhood professionals. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum
  • Assist teachers with the implementation of selected curriculum, assessment tools, and any supplemental materials.
  • Align program practices and standards to support quality implementation.
  • Coordinate teacher training and professional development on selected curricula.
  • Provide support to classroom education staff in creating lesson plans that are faithful to the curriculum and developmentally appropriate.
  • Review lesson plans and provide teachers with timely feedback and recommendations that will improve instruction and classroom management.
Professional Development
  • Collaborate with education staff to develop individual professional development plans for each staff member
  • Identify professional development opportunities offered by funders, regional professional development providers and others that align to teaching staff goals and needs
  • Develop and facilitate a professional learning community focused on instructional excellence
  • Assist with training / modeling good instructional strategies
  • Must attend all Staff Meetings and all ILT Meetings
  • Participate in School Leadership Team meeting, as needed
Observation and Coaching
  • Conduct regular observations in all assigned classrooms and maintain records.
  • Engage education staff in individual and group coaching sessions to discuss observations and develop a plan to strengthen areas of instruction that are in need of improvement and build on areas of strength.
  • Support peer observation and learning between classrooms/sites.
  • Coach instructional staff based upon personal goal setting or based upon need
  • Administer screening or pre/post testing as needed to inform practices
Instructional Quality
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops and conferences, to bring new and emerging best practices into the program.
  • Identify resources and materials that will support instructional quality and integrate them into program practices.
  • Develop internal systems and procedures that advance instructional quality
  • Assist in analysis of data to inform practices at all 3 levels of tiered support
  • Assist in organizing academic SAIG groups based upon data-based decision making rules.
Classroom / Family Support
  • Assist with coordinating special events and projects (Family Reading Night, Reading Incentive Program, End of the Year Packets, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of district-wide curriculum and initiatives. Maintain professional relationships with school district and community early childhood program employees.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, and informative relationship with children's families
and encourage their participation in the program. Treat all families with dignity and respect.
  • Support classroom teams in coordinating and implementing research based interventions for academic and behavioral success (SAIG)
  • Collaborate with team members to support student / family success (team meetings, IEP meetings, etc.)
Certifications, Skills,& Other Requirements:
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Maintain current CPI Certification
  • Pyramid Training
  • Theraplay Training
  • Maintain status as a certified Pre-K CLASS observer.
  • Maintain current PEL, if applicable
  • Attend Practice-Based Coaching training and implement strategies.
  • Demonstrate ability in formulating and writing coaching plans for teachers and/or paraprofessionals.
  • Appropriate physical restraint is an expectation for all staff, including appropriate documentation.
  • Implement and model de-escalation strategies with students and staff.
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with KSD111 staff and families.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development
  • Demonstrate and teach effective instructional strategies.
  • Lead and facilitate staff training and/or parent education groups.
  • Conduct standardized screenings.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale.
  • Complete Pyramid Model training and demonstrate understanding of strategies.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Head Start, Preschool for All, Preschool for All Expansion
  • Organize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Must have valid Driver's License and proof of insurance.
  • Must be able to travel between sites and school districts.
  • All other assigned duties.
