Location : Wilmington - Downtown Campus, NCJob Type: Adjunct FacultyJob Number: 21-00369Division: Economic & Workforce DevelopmentOpening Date: 01/05/2024Closing Date: ContinuousPosition DescriptionDEFINITION: Provide instruction, in class to students who seek professional development in the area(s) of Automotive Technology. **Candidates need to be available to teach mornings Monday thru Friday**SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:Receives general supervision from Associate Vice President of Continuing Education and/or Workforce Training CoordinatorExercises no supervision. Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Provide classroom and online instruction to students Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance lessons Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores Prepare students for industry recognized credentials and assessments Provide classroom demonstrations on various technology; develop assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to: class rosters, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelinesOther Important Functions: Ensure the adherence to safe and appropriate work practices and procedures Help maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies Assess the relevance and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate Provide guest speakers or field experts where appropriate Stay aware of new developments with the exams and preparation Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment. Principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional strategies. Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment. Ability To: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Communicate concisely and respectfully, both orally and in writing Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: o Making observations o Reading and writing o Communicating with others o Operating assigned equipment o Handling varied tasks simultaneously Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: o Standing or sitting for extended periods of time o Operating assigned equipment o Handling varied tasks simultaneously Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of: o Making sound decisions o Responding to questions o Demonstrating intellectual capabilities EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum Education/Training: A minimum of an AAS degree in Automotive Systems Technology or closely related Transportation Technology field from an accredited college or university. Applicant must be a current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Technician in Automobile & Light Truck. Minimum Experience: At least five (5) years of professional experience in Automotive Service.
