- Using industry-level techniques to teach the fashion design process from drafting, draping, pattern making, cutting, and constructing garments.
- Teach from entry-level to the senior level to develop thesis projects.
- Use industrial machines in classes in the teaching process.
- Teach the difference and importance in fabrics and materials.
- Be able to teach hand sewing.
- Teach students the role of pattern-maker and technical designer in the fashion industry and the foundational importance of material selection, color, stitch, and garment construction.
- Explain the overall organization of the fashion industry and the major functions, trends, and career paths in the fashion industry.
- Prepare professional presentations. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of teaching each assigned class section(s), including preparing for class, implementing published syllabus and course outline, communicating with students, evaluating and grading student performance and assignments, maintaining accurate records, and holding synchronous classes.
- Thoroughly understand all course content, including assignments and Course Learning Outcomes. Demonstrate mastery of the course material and facilitate learning using appropriate teaching strategies.
- Actively contribute to and guide class conversations to encourage student engagement and development. Provide constructive feedback on submitted work.
- Adhere to the official course grading breakdown to assess students' achievement of the course learning outcomes.
- Submit all Progress, Midterm, and Final grades by published deadlines.
- Communicate weekly with students who are absent from class and offer support to those who have failed to submit required work on time.
- Perform additional instructor duties as assigned by the Department Director.
- Maintain guidelines set by the Academy of Art University and ensure compliance with state laws and accrediting agencies.
- Remain current in your knowledge of industry advancements and maintain professional interactions in your field. Please submit a portfolio of work along with your resume. Compensation: $53/hr - $80/hr for teaching hours; $18.67/hr for all other non-teaching work. Application Deadline: December 8, 2024.
