Salary: Depends on QualificationsLocation : Hamlet, NCJob Type: Part-Time TemporaryJob Number: 00291Division: CurriculumDepartment: Allied HealthOpening Date: 11/18/2024Closing Date: ContinuousGeneral Description: An Adjunct Instructor, under the authority and direction of the Vice President for Instruction/Chief Academic Officer and in cooperation with the Program Coordinator/Department Chairperson, is responsible for providing effective instruction in the assigned curriculum area.Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Teaches students effectively to meet student learning outcomes.Preparation of instructional material in alignment with student learning outcomes and a course outline in accordance with guidance provided by the appropriate College supervising official.Submission of a course outline for approval prior to the beginning of classes.Conducting instruction in accordance with the approved course outline.Being reasonably available for student counseling for 30 minutes each week in an on line environment.Respond to student email and other communication within 24 hours.Maintaining attendance, grades, and other student's records as prescribed herein or by the College directives.Maintaining the degree of discipline and decorum, necessary to establish an effective learning environment.Makes course syllabi and Instructor Course Requirements available to students no later than the first class session or the first date of the course session for Distance Learning courses. Rubrics used to evaluate specific assignments should also be made available to students.Provides clearly organized and understandable instruction.Provides adequate and timely feedback and evaluation of assignments.Maintains a positive attitude in interactions with students and shows a genuine concern for student learning.Provides the VP for Instruction or his/her designee with updated Instructor Course Requirements that reflect expected student learning outcomes.Submits accurate and complete records and reports in a timely manner in order to provide assessment data for institutional improvement.Accepts other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to teach courses associated with Human Services Technology curriculum. Hold an understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the institution, and of the online learning environment. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Minimum Education and Experience:Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Mental Health, or related field preferred. A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching required.
