SUNY Niagara's Division of Workforce Development is seeking a part-time instructor to assist with teaching an EMT/AEMT course as a Lab instructor/Certified Lab Instructor (CLI). While this course is in-person, current candidates must have the ability to teach online utilizing the Zoom Platform. All instructional staff are responsible for meeting SUNY and college regulations. This includes completing HR training requirements and utilizing SUNY Niagara's email platform.
This position is responsible for providing psychomotor skills instruction during practical lab sessions in accordance with current New York State guidelines and protocols, and to support training course curricula. The instructor will utilize their educational and professional experience to foster a student-centered classroom environment that cultivates student engagement, growth, and career readiness after the completion of the program.
This position requires the ability to work autonomously and assist with class as scheduled. The ability to communicate effectively with supervisory staff in a timely fashion should a change be necessary is a critical component of this position.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Typical Work Activities
* Responsible for assisting course CIC with course materials, and course assessments, a required course syllabi each term,
* Responsible for following the course outline and providing comprehensive classroom instruction as a lab instructor.
* Knowledge for students taking the current NYS DOH BEMS PSE Exam
* Responsible for correcting student work and providing students with feedback on progress in a timely manner.
* Responsible for submitting Bi-Weekly Time Sheets as required.
* Assist the course CIC with accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.
* Responsible for turning in copies of any assessments or graded material for each student.
* Other duties assigned by the course CIC.
Essential Functions
Ability to work with, relate to and train a diverse population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form. Must be able to operate computers and utilize Zoom as a teaching platform. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualifications
* Currently certified as NYS EMT or higher for at least 1 year.
* Currently certified as a NYS CLI or willing to become certified
* Must be currently active with an EMS agency
* Must be actively credentialed in your region with no restrictions.
Desirable Qualifications
* Certified in NYS as a CLI.
* AEMT/EMT-P is preferred.
* BLS, PALS, ACLS, or Trauma Instructor is highly desirable.
