Description The Part-Time Laboratory Specialist, Biology is a part-time position responsible to the Department Chair, Life Sciences and Dean, School of Engineering, Mathematics & Sciences. Essential Functions and Duties
- Facilitate laboratories in the Life Sciences through well prepared, organized and engaged instruction with students in the learning environment
- Meeting all scheduled labs for the entire scheduled time
- Keeping accurate records of students' attendance and grades
- Provide support to students via timely communication
- Working cooperatively with other members of the faculty and staff in an effort to contribute to overall instructional effectiveness
- Maintaining a lab environment that is safe and conducive to student success
CompetenciesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and experience with standard laboratory equipment
- Must be student-centered in methodology and classroom procedures and have excellent communication skills
- Must have the ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals
Qualifications Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree required with coursework in the Biological Sciences
Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience as a laboratory assistant, teaching assistant or laboratory technician preferred
