Follow your passion and make an impact at WPU!Department: Library Purpose of Department: The Lucy Cooper Finch Library strives to inspire William Peace University's students, faculty, and staff to intellectual and personal discovery by providing and enhancing access to the technology and information resources that support the University's academic programs.Summary of Position: The Library Associate is responsible for providing customer service to students, faculty, and staff using the Library resources and facility. Essential duties and responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director of the Library, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: Provides walk-in, telephone, and email reference services. Assists patrons with finding appropriate research resources. Troubleshoots and resolves basic computer problems in the Library. Performs routine circulation operations within the Mandarin Integrated Library System. Ensures materials are accurately shelved. Assists with interlibrary loan services. Instructs patrons on use of the facility and resources. Assists with materials processing, inventory, and resource evaluation. May assist with training and guidance provided to student workers. Works on projects in collaboration with other departments on campus as needed. There may be frequent interruptions.Minimum Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Candidates who apply within established recruitment dates are required to meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Minimum qualifications are the absolute smallest amount of experience and education that provide the ability to determine if the candidate could potentially perform well in the position. Preferred are the qualifications that enable a candidate to potentially excel in the position. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of experience in customer service-oriented positions. Knowledge of basic library operations. Familiarity with computers, especially Microsoft and Google productivity tools. Ability to work a flexible weekly schedule primarily consisting of Sunday through Thursday afternoon and evening hours with occasional Saturday hours.Preferred Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree or equivalent or significant coursework towards a library science degree (current library school graduate students are encouraged to apply) 2 years of academic or public library experience Supervisory experience Knowledge of research databases Familiarity with Macintosh computersHours per week: 25 Job Posting Date: 09/03/2024 Priority Deadline: 09/15/2024 Priority Deadline Information: Priority consideration will be given to applications received by the Priority Date; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
