Utilize the nursing process to assist patients in achieving optimum wellness. Examples of DutiesUtilizes the nursing process in an outpatient setting to assist clients in achieving optimum wellness. - Initiates patient assessment and history, vitals, chief complaints, allergies, etc.
- Give injectable medication, vaccines, and emergency care when needed.
- Assist with GYN exams and specimen collections for appropriate lab testing.
- Performs non-invasive procedures including COVID testing, wound dressings, compresses, heat treatments, and liquid nitrogen treatments within scope of experience and training.
- Nurse callbacks and triage.
Assess patient education needs, develops and conducts teaching plans in response to identified needs, evaluates effectiveness of interventions, including teaching of patients on specific disease states and proper prevention for achieving and maintaining the patient's optimum level of wellness. Examples include: - 30%
- Teaching on proper fit and use of crutches; quarantine or isolation protocol for communicable diseases; medication use and assist with programs for healthy lifestyles as requested.

- Documents patient information, including history, assessment, impression, treatments, medication given and ordered, response to treatment, referrals, lab results, and other information as applicable.

- Collaborates with state and local health agencies as required in the monitoring, recording, and reporting of communicable diseases and other community health initiatives as may be applicable to a college health setting.

- Maintains the clinical environment in accordance with standards of safe practice and infection control.
- Restocks supplies, medication, linen, crutches, liquid nitrogen, and disposes of all waste, including biohazard wastes, before, during, and after patient treatment, according to universal precaution standards.
Typical QualificationsEducation:
- Graduate of approved Licensed Practical or Vocational Nursing program.
Experience:
- One (1) year nursing experience preferred.
