Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Transport Nurse (School Setting, Split Shift)Location: North Bellmore, NYJob Type: Part-Time, Split ShiftHours:
  • Morning Shift: Approx. 7:30 AM - 8:15 AM
  • Afternoon Shift: Approx. 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Valid LPN License: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in the state of New York, with no restrictions.
  • Valid LPN NYS Registration Certificate
  • BLS, CPR and First Aid Certification: Current BLS, CPR and First Aid certification required.
Position Overview:The LPN Transport Nurse will provide safe and effective care to students during transport to and from school. This role involves assisting children with medical needs, ensuring their safety and comfort, and monitoring for any health concerns during travel. Working closely with school administration and transportation personnel, the LPN Transport Nurse plays a critical role in supporting the well-being of students with special medical needs.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Direct Nursing Care: Monitor and care for students with medical needs during school transport, including managing medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing any necessary support during travel.
  • Respond to Medical Emergencies: Assess, manage, and document any medical emergencies that may arise while on the bus, following proper protocols.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Uphold health and safety standards, including infection control practices and emergency protocols, to ensure a secure environment for students.
  • Communicate with Care Teams: Act as a liaison between students, their families, school staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and address any health-related concerns.
  • Maintain Documentation: Accurately document any incidents, medical interventions, and observations related to student care during transport.
  • Support Transport Personnel: Work closely with the bus driver and aide (if applicable) to coordinate safe student transport and ensure appropriate seating arrangements and equipment handling.
Qualifications:
  • Valid LPN License: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in the state of New York, with no restrictions.
  • Valid LPN NYS Registration Certificate
  • BLS, CPR and First Aid Certification: Current BLS, CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Experience with Pediatric or School-Based Care: Prior experience in a school, pediatric, or similar setting with children who have medical needs is preferred.
  • Ability to Work Split Shift Schedule: Availability for the specified morning and afternoon shifts with reliability in attendance.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and assist students with mobility devices as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and navigate safely within a moving vehicle.
