Modeled after the City Beautiful-planned community movement, the Mediterranean Revival style building is a historic landmark, and the City's first public building and golf course. Built in 1922, the club is part of the original 1921 city plan developed by Coral Gables' founder and visionary George Merrick and is the namesake for the neighboring historic district which is comprised of the country club, the golf course, and 84 private residences. Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Part-Time Maintenance Worker I performs tasks related to park maintenance projects such as mulching, planting, painting, repair of equipment, pressure cleaning and minor tasks such as drilling, sawing, and use of small tools for building or repairing equipment. Requires familiarity with basic trade practices in landscaping and landscape maintenance, as well as the ability to operate various hand tools. Work is assigned, reviewed by inspection, and performed under the direction of a supervisor. In addition, will be responsible for tasks related to park maintenance: e.g. cleaning of restrooms, shelters, dugouts, and other facilities as directed; picking up and disposing of trash and litter; emptying of trash and litter receptacles; maintaining athletic field areas; cleaning and maintaining sidewalks, concrete pads and parking surfaces, etc.Please note this position will be assigned to the Coral Gables Country Club. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Some experience in landscape maintenance and/or installation or construction manual labor.A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the high school diploma. Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment. SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year. HOLIDAYS: 12 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day). BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.
