Job Type Part-timeDescriptionThe Part-time Nurse is responsible for nursing, health education and assessment. The Nurse reports to the Program Director for support and supervision. Location: Women's Hope COE is a residential treatment program for women dealing with substance use and moderate to severe mental health conditions located in Jamaica Plain. Our program can currently serve up to 16 women and provides residents with a bridge between treatment and reintegration into community living as they move through their own substance and mental health recovery.Essential Functions:
- Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.'s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy of Care, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.
- Conduct nursing and medication assessment.
- Support clients' medication compliance and monitoring of symptoms.
- Oversee client medication records/logs.
- Collaborate with prescriber (MD or Nurse Practitioner) to maintain effective, transparent, and adequate medication protocols for the program.
- Collaborate with prescriber to ensure the reconciliation, ordering, and logging-in of medications.
- Make referrals to other medical providers, if appropriate.
- Coordinate primary care services with the Goldfarb ACC (primary care clinic at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital) and other primary care clinics, and with specialty care units when needed.
- Assist interdisciplinary team with appropriate supportive referral options for clients.
- Maintain client records.
- Schedule and/or facilitate educational sessions/groups on HIV, Hepatitis A, B, C and STD's.
- Assist in the development and distribution of information materials/brochures to designated residential treatment programs.
- Assist with completion and submission of all contractually mandated reports.
- Be available on-call for medication or other medical related issues.
Required Qualifications:
- LPN licensure or Bachelors/associate degree in nursing with significant health education experience preferably in HIV, viral Hepatitis and STD's.
- Excellent training, presentation, and public speaking skills.
- Excellent writing and organizational skills.
- Possess a mind-body health approach and can implement this philosophy.
- Capacity to work as a member of a team and to embrace diversity.
- Access to a car for local travel is also required.
- Three strong work-related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.
- Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
- Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
