Job Description

Performs responsible professional and specialized work fostering the appreciation of the natural resources in the city parks system. Work involves researching of human and natural history of each park and some planning and design functions. Work may involve operating a nature center. Work also involves giving talks, guiding tours, and conducting educational and interest programs.

Examples of Work

* Performs responsible work fostering the appreciation of the natural resources in the city park system.

* Conducts educational nature programs for the public.

* Conducts tours for the public and presents interpretive talks.

* Leads groups on walks to identify plants, animals, birds, fish and insects, and explains relationship of one to another.

* Provides care for live collections of reptiles and amphibians.

* Maintains the interior of the Nature Center and its non-living collection.

* Assists in invasive plant removal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* One year of experience as a naturalist providing environmental education is required.

Preferred:

* Experience providing animal care.

* Knowledge of Florida's Fauna and Floral.
