Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City. ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following duties are illustrative for this position. Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.Maintains equipment and facilities by performing manual labor and semi-skilled workMaintains various grounds, fields and parks by performing mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging and other manual labor tasksPrepares fields, grounds and courts for athletic activitiesPerforms tasks of painting, irrigation maintenance and sprayingPerforms sodding, seeding, trimming, edging, mulching and similar work in parks and other City grounds.Performs litter control functions, cleans restroomsSets up picnic and other areasOperates vehicles and equipment and performs preventative maintenance functions on the vehicles and equipment.Makes daily written and oral reportsInforms and directs public in the use of facilitiesOther duties may be assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two (2) years of grounds maintenance experience is preferred. Possession of valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record is required. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.Knowledge, Skill and/or Ability Required:Knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform duties.Knowledge of groundskeeping practices and principles.Skill in the operation and preventive maintenance of equipment and related tools.Ability to operate equipment required to perform duties.Ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions.Ability to follow written and oral instructions.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.Ability to focus on the positive in every situation.Ability to model respect for individuals, teams, and the organization.Ability to stay centered when challenged.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to follow through with assigned tasks.
