SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervised by the Chief of Police or his/her designee.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/ALOCATION: Moravian University or Lancaster Theological SeminaryPOSITION SUMMARY: The part-time/per diem Police Officer/Campus Security Officer is charged with the security of life, limb, property, and equipment within the institution, the enforcement of all institution rules and regulations, and the enforcement of laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Federal Regulations.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Enforce the rules and regulations of Moravian University and laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Federal Regulations.Perform routine patrols of the campus by vehicle and on foot.Provide for the necessary reporting of criminal activity.Document any pertinent interactions and prepare reports in the dept's record management system.Provide for the security of all campus buildings and property by assisting in the locking of buildings and reporting any circumstances that present a danger to college students, employees, or property.Direct traffic on University property for related events and emergencies.Provide a variety of services including but not limited to: medical transports, motorist assists, money escorts, lock/unlock requests, responds to fire safety device activations.Check for and report all suspicious activity, equipment malfunction, and other irregularities.Assist with providing security at special events.Police Officers will investigate reports of criminal activity and perform accident/criminal investigations.Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, or O.I.C.QUALIFICATIONS: Our ideal candidate possesses a strong desire to serve the community, has earned an associate degree or higher, or has prior experience as a police/security officer, preferably in a campus setting. The candidate is required to possess or obtain the Pennsylvania Act 235 training and certification in addition to maintaining a valid operator's license. Applicants having certification under PA Act 120 will be considered for a part-time, per diem Police Officer position. The position demands excellent organizational skills as well as superior interpersonal skills, and an ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the University including students, staff, and faculty, in addition to the general public. Must submit to a background check, and upon conditional appointment, pass a medical examination, drug screen and psychological examination.
