TITLE: Part Time - SECURITY AIDE QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of high school degree required.
Ability to work well with students of varying ages.
Ability to work well with professional teaching and administrative staff.
Good communication skills.
Previous experience working in a school setting, preferred.
Knowledge of security measures, fire prevention and crowd control helpful.
Ability to maintain order and remain calm in a crisis.
A record of excellent job related attendance.
Pass mandatory pre-employment physical, including any required drug screening.
Pass mandatory criminal history screening in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
Some basic computer skills required; proficient in Google Office suite helpful.

REPORTS TO: District Safety & Security Specialist or his/her designee and the School Principal
JOB GOAL: Maintain the safety of staff and students, respond to behavior incidents, monitor hallways and respond to calls for assistance and complete other duties as directed by school administration.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patrols the corridors, school grounds and common areas (e.g. bathrooms, locker areas, parking areas, etc.) at all times unless otherwise directed, checking for passes and ensure students move quickly to their destinations. Makes rounds about the building and grounds, ensuring that all doors are closed and locked.
Assists the professional staff in maintaining order in the cafeteria during lunch periods and/or recess by remaining visible to students and staff, rotating positions in the cafeteria and/or recess areas to ensure student safety and well-being. Security aides should never sit/stand idly unless assigned to a station by administration.
Reports unruly and potentially unruly students to faculty, supervisors and/or administrators immediately.
Monitors the lavatories and locker rooms to ensure order and the privacy and safety of students.
Routinely patrols all school grounds and the building ensuring safe, orderly passage and parking of vehicles, compliance with rules governing visitors to the grounds, and ensuring that students report to their destinations or vacate the grounds promptly.
Assists in the general overall supervision of large group meetings, such as class meetings, assemblies, pep rallies, etc.
Communicate in a positive and effective manner with staff, students, and visitors.
Assists in the removal of trespassers and disruptive students using de-escalation techniques and physical intervention if trained to do so.
Check in and/or assists visitors with directions and secures proper identification.
Assists administrators in carrying out rules and regulations, when requested.
Observes and reports violations of safety and health codes to administration.
Reports any discipline infractions, unauthorized visitors, and acts of vandalism to the building administration.
Immediately notifies administrators when suspicious about concealed or potentially lethal or dangerous objects, materials, substances or weapons and possibly apprehend them if necessary and trained to do so.
Assists in the search and seizure for objects during bomb scares only as specifically directed by administration.
Assists in general supervision during safety drills.
Assists during parent visitation programs which include the Halloween Parade, National Education Week, and other activities.
Reports and documents incidents as directed by building administration and/or the Director of School Safety/Security.
Protects confidentiality of records and information about staff and uses discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
Travels between buildings independently if needed to help and/or support coverages in other buildings as directed by the district-level administration.
Attends required staff meetings and professional development trainings.
May serve on Crisis Team, and assist with emergency planning operations.
Adheres to federal and state statutes and regulations, Board of Education policies, regulations and procedures.
Wears district-designated attire at all times while working.
Performs other duties as assigned by the administration.

Sufficient physical ability, strength, mobility and stamina to carry out job duties in hot, cold, and inclement weather conditions.
