Summary of Responsibilities : As a member of the Geneva College Campus Safety and Security Department, the Officer is expected to perform a full range of security duties. The duties include protecting against fire, theft and criminal activity. It also includes protecting and assisting the general campus population.Essential Responsibilities : (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)General Duties:Continuous roving patrols by the security vehicle and by foot of College properties.Respond to calls of service.Respond to all alarm calls and make proper notification.Respond to all medical emergencies and render aid when applicable.Enforce Geneva College parking policies.Conduct building checks both required and unspecified.Unlock and lock buildings as required.Check for any hazards or areas of safety concern.Complete a daily Campus Safety and Security Department report.Supervision:Supervise student employees to include training, planning, coaching, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Must have a mindset of mentoring employees under supervision. Should there be doubt as to whether a certain matter is to be protected, it should be discussed with your supervisor before making a disclosure.Mental: Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.Qualifications:Minimum:Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalentSkill/Abilities: Ability to communicate both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to work all shifts -i.e. 8a-4p, 4p-12a, and 12a-8a. Must possess a valid driver's license.Maintain a valid driver's license and insurability status.Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College's Foundational Concepts of Christian Education by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.Preferred:Education/Certification: Some college education a plus.Experience: Security work in an educational setting.
