Our mission is to help students discover their unique talents, preparing them for higher education and a life of purpose and service as engaged citizens in our ever-changing world.Provides personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within the school campus. Provides escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol duties within the school campus. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPatrols assigned area on foot, in assigned utility vehicle, or other specialized vehicle to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security. Uses school keys to open and close buildings. Monitors closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.Provides escort services for visitors. Provides other public assistance, such as lockout services, jump starts, and routine information.Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations. Contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators. Approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate. May confront and/or detain violators, as required, until police arrive.Patrols and monitors parking areas, athletic fields, and other outdoor spaces to provide public security and assistance.Prepares routine standardized reports.JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED required.One year of directly related experience which may include directly related certification or practicum training preferred.Ability to successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to complete routine paperwork.Ability to safely operate a utility vehicle.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.Skill in providing protection services to individuals on campus.Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.Ability to operate two-way communication devices.Proficiency in the use of computer software for word-processing, spreadsheet, and email.OTHER INFORMATIONA criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed.Have or obtain Metropolitan Security License.Moderate physical activity; requires handling of average-weight objects and standing or walking for extended periods of time and responding quickly when asked for assistance or responding to an incident.Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.Must be able to work outdoors throughout the year for extended periods of time.Occasional overtime is required.Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School's discretion.#J-18808-Ljbffr
