Description The Part-Time Morning Staff Technician, TJC North is a part-time position responsible to the Manager, Operations & Community Relations. This position will facilitate morning classes. Hours are M-R 7:30 (or 8:00) AM-Noon. Additional hours at other times may be available. Essential Functions and Duties
  • Facilitate operations of TJC-North facility: without daily supervision implement security and operational policies to ensure the safety and effective functioning of the campus
  • Assist faculty in accessing equipment & supplies, and documenting any deficiencies
  • Assist in facility opening, adhering to security measures
  • Greet visitors, students, and/or employees and respond to inquiries, requests for information, and provide assistance
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees at Tyler Junior College
  • Perform general clerical duties including organizing, filing, shredding, and photocopying documents and files, etc. as directed
  • Answer phones and respond to voice or e-mail messages as directed
Competencies Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business English with the ability to write in complete sentences using appropriate words, correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Oral and written skills to convey ideas, facts, and information effectively and accurately to students, staff, faculty, and the general public
  • Ability to provide unsupervised oversight to the TJC-North campus: including responding to requests for assistance, maintaining polices & procedures, and property documenting deficiencies
  • Ability to proactively respond to faculty needs
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to maintain filing systems
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner Ability to complete tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years' experience working in an office setting, interacting directly with customers

RETIREMENT Part-Time Retirement Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. Library Use Employees may utilize the Vaughn Library and Learning Resource Center. Fitness Facility Use Employee and immediate family use of the Apache Recreation Center - an indoor weight and exercise center, 18-hole disc golf course, covered basketball course, and outdoor ping-pong table and cornhole.
