GENERAL DUTIES

Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

The Career Exploration & Development Center (CEDC) assists Lehman students and alumni with all phases of their career development, to help them transition from college to career. This includes career exploration and counseling, deciding on a major, employer connections, and internships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide one-on-one resume review assistance to Lehman College undergraduates, graduate students, and recent alumni across majors.
  • Assist in review and approval of job postings and new employer contacts on Handshake.
  • Facilitate career development workshops on resume/cover letter preparation, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, networking, and communications.
  • Administer and interpret career instruments such as Strong Interest Inventory and Focus 2.
  • Provide support in facilitating information/recruitment sessions and resume screening.
  • Work on collaborative and specialized programming with faculty, student services professionals, campus clubs, and organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree required.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education, or related area; Master's degree preferred.
  • Four years counseling experience required or combined experience in counseling, education, and business; Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function well in an energetic and creative team environment.
  • Knowledge of web-based career management systems, career-building technologies, and administrative software are essential.
  • Commitment to serving a diverse, urban student population.
  • COMPENSATION

    $47.42/hr at 20 hours per week for a total of 520 hours.
