Niagara County Community College has a need for part time Biology Technical Assistants to work in the Science, Health and Mathematics department.
The rate of pay is based on the level of education the candidate possesses. For a Bachelor's degree or lower the rate of pay will be $20.60 per hour. For a Master's degree or higher the rate of pay will be $22.66 per hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, Niagara County Community College will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Typical Work Activities
* Prepare materials for use in undergraduate biology laboratories including microbiology media, microbiology cultures and chemical reagents;
* Set up and remove class materials weekly in laboratory classrooms;
* Maintain laboratory organization including proper sterilization and disposal of wastes;
* Manage inventory including maintaining records, recommend purchasing;
* Ensure lab equipment is maintained.
Essential Functions Required Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in Biology or a degree in a biology-related field with at least 6 lab-based science classes at the undergraduate or graduate level. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Proficiency performing techniques in Microbiology: media preparation, culturing of bacteria, protozoans, and/or fungi, sterilization and disposal of wastes; proficiency using and maintaining an autoclave; experience maintaining microscopes and other laboratory instruments.
