Job Description

St Albans School is seeking an Office Attendant to answer phone and email inquiries and provide reception support to members and other parties who visit the Tennis Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle transactions related to the Tennis Center such as guest fees, pro shop purchases, lesson payments, and all proper documentation of transactions.
  • Restock and maintain inventory.
  • Monitor weather reports for the area and inform patrons and other Center staff of weather-related delays or closures; this may include updating the Tennis Center's voicemail, posting notices at the entryways, and denying access to the courts until cleanup or safety issues have been addressed.
  • Update the Tennis Center's voicemail box to note changes in hours, weather notices, or other required adjustments to the center's typical guest availability.
  • Ensure cash funds are available in the cash register according to cash handling protocols.
  • Complete a walk-through at the beginning of the shift to ensure courts are free of debris and items for the lost/found are collected, and courts are ready for play.
  • Document any problems with the courts, including equipment. If a situation warrants, make direct and immediate contact with fellow workers and management for resolution.
  • Complete all closing procedures according to set protocols.
  • Provide other assistance to coaches or maintenance staff as necessary.
  • Exercise good judgment in the performance of job responsibilities and work without direct supervision.
  • The position may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are.

    Classification:

    Faculty Staff 10-month 12-month Temporary Full-Time Part-Time Exempt Non-Exempt Designated Onsite Telework Eligible Salary Hourly

    Reporting: Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Summer Programs and Club Administration

    Salary Range: $17.50-$19.00 per hour

    Supervision Exercised: For the purposes of management, performance assessment, and span of control, the part-time Tennis Office Attendant supervises none.

    Professional Experience & Qualifications

    Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for 1-2 years minimum of customer-facing role such as hospitality, retail, or foodservice.

  • Working Conditions

    Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule (approximately 10-25 hours of work each week) that is generally Saturday and Sunday between the general hours of 9:00 AM and 7:30 PM. The candidate will be standing for extended periods and must be able to walk for extended lengths of time over potentially rough terrain.

    Work Environment: Generally, work is performed in an office within the Tennis Center which may or may not be climate-controlled environment.
