Position Description:Trinity Valley School is seeking a personable individual to assist with the Trojan Extended Day (TED) Program. The ideal candidate will have a high energy level and will love to interact with elementary-aged children. The TED Program Assistant is a part-time employee that reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs and the TED Program Coordinator. Minimum weekly hours are 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The TED Program Assistant will:
  • provide a safe and healthy environment for the children through constant visual supervision;
  • plan and provide children with developmentally appropriate activities, focusing on a balance between free-choice and organized activities;
  • know the names and ages of all participating children;
  • treat each child with dignity and respect;
  • use approved behavior management techniques when handling a child's inappropriate actions, and communicate all incidents to the TED Program Coordinator;
  • maintain confidentiality of children, parents, and staff;
  • establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships among colleagues in the TED Program by functioning as a cooperative member of the team;
  • set up program and activity areas as needed
  • maintain a clean and organized environment for students by demonstrating and engaging them in cleaning and organizing the activity areas before, during, and after use.
  • work with the TED Program Coordinator to manage attendance;
  • represent the TVS Mission and Auxiliary Programs Vision through his / her actions;
  • observe scheduled work hours; and
  • help upkeep the school facilities used by the TED Program.
Auxiliary Programs / TED at Trinity Valley School: In keeping with the mission and philosophy of Trinity Valley School, our Auxiliary Programs exist to develop our students' wide constructive interests by expanding and enriching their academic, creative, and athletic horizons. TVS Auxiliary Programs aim to develop upstanding and empathetic leaders by building authentic partnerships with the Fort Worth community, creating meaningful opportunities for TVS faculty and students to learn and serve, and co-constructing solutions to needs in the community.Specifically, the TED Program offers a safe, creative, and positive before- and after-school environment for TVS students in grades PreK - 4. TED includes outside free play, homework time, snacks, and centers that focus on art, drama, math, science, games, and gross motor skills.Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:The ideal candidate will
  • demonstrate keen observation and listening skills, especially with regard to children's needs;
  • have consistent availability to work afternoons and additional childcare days during the academic year (August - May);
  • have the opportunity to work additional hours during the summer, from (May to August), during XPLORE: Summer at TVS;
  • be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
  • have experience caring for elementary-aged children; and
  • be able to assist in emergency procedures.
