Job Description:
Provide tutoring and other support services to students in Academic Skills Advancement or Liberal Arts and entry-level program courses, with a primary focus on subject specific materials in accordance with education, experience, and expertise.Essential Duties:
  • Provides individualized and group tutoring in a manner that empowers students to become independent, successful learners.
  • Provides tutoring in Ivy Tech courses with concentrations in subjects specific to qualifications.
  • Teaches and assists students in the use of computer software.
  • Guides and instructs students in the use of software programs and/or web-based applications directly related to Ivy Tech coursework.
  • Maintains tutoring records for each student.
  • Interacts with instructors as to student needs, topics tutored, course changes, and new textbook adoptions.
The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred in subject tutored, closely related field or the equivalent subject-matter expertise acquired through professional experience.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge in word processing programs required
  • Possess a working understanding of college level skills needed by students
  • Tutoring or teaching experience at the adult level preferred
  • Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with college students
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Knows and can utilize training provided in tutoring several Ivy Tech Courses
