Position: Part-time Upper School CounselorFounded in 1888, The Baldwin School is a non-sectarian college preparatory, independent day school, PK-12, dedicated to a tradition of excellence in all-girls education. More information is available on our website.The Baldwin School seeks applicants for the part-time position of Upper School Counselor to support students in Grades 9-12 beginning in January 2025. The successful candidate will possess excellent speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills; be successful in working with teams; demonstrate relevant and current knowledge of adolescent development and health-related topics; show enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues; have a very high level of energy, creativity, and flexibility; possess a growth mindset; and a sense of humor. She or he will be able to inspire and empower students and faculty to learn; collaborate and engage in daily conversations and experiences with students and colleagues; and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. Successful candidates will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.The Upper School Counselor is a part of the Baldwin Counseling and Wellbeing team, working to provide robust, comprehensive programming and services to students, faculty, and parents in support of student social-emotional growth and development.Responsibilities:Foster and maintain strong relationships and collaborative communication with students, parents, faculty, and administrators;Work with the Coordinator of Counseling and Wellbeing to support faculty training to develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors;Work collaboratively with the learning specialists in the continued development of a comprehensive student support program that includes education and consultation with faculty, staff, and administration;Collaborate with the learning specialists to provide multi-faceted support for students in the classroom and through outside resources;Collaborate with the learning specialists to read and interpret the results of neuropsychological evaluations as needed;In collaboration with faculty and administration, design and implement an individualized plan for students whose social-emotional needs are impacting their ability to fully complete academic assignments;Work with faculty, parents, and private contractors on behalf of students who require specialized academic instruction and/or counseling services;Implement programming for families and faculty/staff specific to the issues facing students, such as social media, mental health, at-risk behaviors, peer dynamics, etc.;Support student programming, such as Peer Mentors and their training;Participate as a full member of the Upper School faculty and demonstrate a willingness to engage actively in The Baldwin School community in an appropriate and visible way;Serve as an advisor to a small group of students, and chaperone events as needed;Other duties as assigned by the Division Director or Head of School.Qualifications:Master's degree in Counseling, School Psychology, or related field;A minimum of 3 years in a school setting working with middle or upper-school-aged students;Experience with G-Suite/Google Apps for Education;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising, and supporting students outside the classroom;Demonstrated experience in differentiation, enrichment, and intervention strategies; experience with a variety of common academic and behavioral assessments;#J-18808-Ljbffr
