Join our team as a Vocational Support Specialist!As a Vocational Support Specialist, you'll be responsible for providing on-site and off-site training and support for clients during their skill development, career planning, and employment retention. You will conduct instructional activities related to soft skills, work skills, and independent living skills. Your role includes locating competitive job sites in the community and assisting clients in navigating their employment journeys. Key Responsibilities:
  • Treat all clients, referral sources, stakeholders, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality, CARF, and contractual standards during the provision of services.
  • Maintain flexibility in work availability including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of disabilities and potential assistive technology/accommodations.
  • Compile and review vocational, medical, psychological, and educational information to assist clients.
  • Contribute to and/or develop individualized service plans with clients.
  • Conduct activities identified within clients' individualized service plans.
  • Coordinate paid, work-based learning experiences with participants.
  • Transport clients to carry out goals identified in their individualized service plans.
  • Monitor and report on progress toward individualized service plan goals.
  • Ensure authorizations for services are current and services provided fall within date ranges of authorizations.
  • Track and report units of service relative to clients' authorizations.
  • Complete reporting as required for functions being performed.
  • Instruct and facilitate clients' skill development in pre-vocational, vocational, social, and independent living areas.
  • Develop necessary strategies, lessons, and/or curriculum based on clients' individualized service plans.
  • Establish community-based sites for skill development and career planning activities.
  • Provide onsite job supports to assist clients with their job duties and interactions with co-workers.
  • Serve as a liaison between employers, clients, and co-workers.
  • Educate employers about the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities.
  • Facilitate long-term employment success by implementing on-site/off-site job supports.
  • Maintain frequent contact with referral sources regarding shared clients.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate is required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in an applicable field from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Experience in rehabilitation, employment services, case management, or social services is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Skilled in computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, internet platforms).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of supporting individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment.
Supervisory Requirements:NoneEmployment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of background checks.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation and training requirements.
  • Current driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time).
