In support of this vision, the Parts Clerk establishes, maintains, and issues an inventory of automotive parts and supplies, in accordance with prescribed accounting and control systems, for location assigned. Essential Job FunctionsThis position will sit at our M2 Hillside Garage location.Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM-3:00PM; November 15th - April 1st on call for Snow & Ice season.This position provides support to the staff using parts and inventory. This position works closely with the Section Clerk as well as the Central Warehouse Staff. This position reports to the Central Shop Auto Repair and Body Shop Manager and or the Central Shop Truck and Equipment Repair Manager or Central Shop Night Supervisor. The position manages the inventory under their control, and assures inventory is accurately monitored. The position performs cycle counts and audits of inventory and supplies. The position works closely with the Central Shop Managers to determine inventory levels and appropriate inventory items. This position is required to input data into various computer management systems. The position files hard copy reports and work orders. Additional Duties Include:
- Issue required parts and supplies to authorized personnel, necessary for the operation of Central Shop
- Input to Computer, all issued parts and supplies necessary to keep an accurate inventory.
- Inputs all SRO's for the Central Shop
- Perform cycle counts on inventory levels to assure accuracy in receiving and dispersals.
- Stores parts and materials in a clean, neat, safe and orderly manner.
- Responsible for accuracy of deliveries from all other locations.
- Maintains inventory levels consistent with demand and established policy,
- Maintains familiarity with Sun System procedures and data input.
- Accountable for proper ordering and receiving in regard to Sun System.
- Prepares the proper forms for shipping equipment to outside vendors for either repair or service (A.S.P.)
- Performs typing and clerical duties such as filing, record keeping and answering phones.
- Cross trains with Section Clerk to become knowledgeable of that position, including the ability to perform accurate timekeeping for Garage personnel.
- Assists Central Warehouse on correct specifications for required parts or supplies, if requested.
- Subject to call for snow and ice control and other emergency situations that may arise.
- Maintains accurate records of vehicle or equipment inventory using various Tollway Systems, forms and miscellaneous information (i.e., EMS, SUN, etc.)
- Performs follow-up and tracks all orders for materials and supplies under positions control.
- Follows all procedures established for ordering and maintaining inventory.
- Follows fuel system procedures and maintains Fire Marshall's fuel log.
- In the absence of the Section Clerk, performs duties of Section Clerk at the request of Supervision.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Experience (Required)
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervision and mechanic staff.
- Good Written and Verbal Skills.
- Capable of operating both desktop and main frame computer systems.
- Working knowledge of Vehicle/Equipment Components.
- Competent in the use of Automotive parts and supply manuals.
- Ability to identify equipment and tools used in Automotive and Roadway Maintenance and repair.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass a written exam to qualify for interview
