POSITION OVERVIEWThe Parts Clerk is responsible for maintaining parts storage areas and ensuring the availability of parts for the Fleet Maintenance Department by procuring supplies in a timely and cost effective manner while maintaining compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Order supplies, parts and equipment necessary for Fleet Maintenance operations.
- Generate purchase orders in computer system.
- Receive incoming deliveries in a timely manner and with accuracy by verifying against purchase orders.
- Receive invoice information into electronic maintenance systems.
- Routine follow up on parts on back order with vendors.
- Communicate with Fleet Maintenance staff to coordinate and supply necessary materials needed for daily operations.
- Communicate with vendors for supply orders.
- Monitor inventory levels.
- Use of company passenger vehicles to procure supplies as needed.
- Participate in all company training programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Specific Requirements
- Meet all general qualifications for employment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Meet company and state standards for driving record check and maintain a good driving record.
- Meet company, state, and school district standards for criminal history check.
- Pass physical examination.
- Pass drug and alcohol screening.
Specific Experience and Qualifications
- Possess general experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
- Possess strong knowledge of inventory management.
- Possess a solid understanding of inventory-related best practices.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and housekeeping skills by keeping parts storage and counters organized in a detailed manner, clean and uncluttered.
- Demonstrate proficient data entry and general computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
- Possess basic knowledge of vehicle parts, maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to effectively utilize parts manuals and manufacturers build sheets.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate professional communication with all vendors and Dean staff members.
- Demonstrate a professional appearance.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays which includes full availability during Michigan State Police inspections.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job including but not limited to: standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling and prolonged physical exertions.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
