Description

The Pastoral Associate sits on the “Parish Leadership Team” which is a group of six persons that also includes both Pastoral Assistants for Administration, the principal of the school, the parochial vicar and pastor of the family. This group takes responsibility for the spiritual health of the entire family, and helps the pastor discern the Lord's will so that pastoral priorities can be set accordingly.

The Pastoral Associate is the direct report for all pastoral staff in the family who do not sit on the Parish Leadership Team, and aligns those staff to the determined priorities.

The Pastoral Associate additionally sits on the Pastoral Council and the Evangelization Committee, teaches adult formation as needed, and has overall responsibility for RCIA in the family.

This is a full-time, year-round, salary exempt position. Includes evening and weekend work. Work is performed in both worship sites with duties and responsibilities encompassing the entire parish family.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the Pastor and parish staff in implementing the mission of the parishes. This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation, and evaluation of the parish's programs, goals, and objectives, with specific focus on pastoral ministry.
  • Assists the pastor in the daily operation of the parishes. This involves collaboration with the pastor and regional staff in the overall pastoral care of the parishes. This may include the direct coordination of one or more specific ministries, e.g., sacramental planning, educational formation, pastoral ministry. Attends and participates in regional, Archdiocesan, and national professional meetings and organizations as approved and as appropriate.
  • Liturgy Coordinator. This is accomplished by developing and organizing plans which respond to the parishes worship and prayer needs and overseeing the provision of quality liturgical seasonal celebrations and sacramental services. Oversees the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of both the Eucharist and sacramental celebrations of the parishes. Coordinates liturgical celebrations, special liturgies, and seasonal celebrations throughout the year. This would include funeral, and wedding preparation, as needed. Assures that adequate and helpful materials for worship are available for both presider and assembly. Oversees the liturgy budget. Supervise the people who work in Music Ministry. Assist visiting priests when necessary.
  • Assures the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for faith formation of youth and adults which includes newly married, young families, parish missions, on-going faith formation and Small Christian Communities.
  • Directs the sacramental preparation programs for both parishes, which includes Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, RCIA and Marriage prep.
  • Serve as staff liaison and advocate for parish groups, as assigned. Serve as a liaison on the Pastoral Council along with the Pastor.
  • Directs the programs overseen by this position in accord with parish, archdiocesan and universal Church teachings, norms, guidelines, policies and procedures, including planning, promotion, implementation and annual evaluation of program content, materials, methodology, format and social networking components.
  • Assures the recruitment, training, motivation, support and evaluation of parish staff and volunteers who work to accomplish the goals and objectives of the programs overseen by this position. Assures completion of documentation and training for these volunteers in the parish Safe Environment Program. Facilitates the personal faith growth among the volunteers that enhances them as a small Christian community.
  • Assures the purchase and allocation of all materials and equipment, including books, audio-visual materials, general supplies and all other resources necessary to implement the programs overseen by this position.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of current, accurate and confidential record-keeping systems for the programs overseen by this position and provides for all necessary support services.
  • Assures the appropriate program budget is prepared and submitted on a timely basis and, once approved, authorizes and monitors the expenditures of the budget in a prudent manner.
  • Participates in pastoral and general staff meetings on a regular basis including occasional retreats, trainings, and socials. Serves as a resource to the staff, including the school. Collaborates as appropriate in regional or deanery planning and program efforts, as needed.
  • Maintains a level of personal spiritual and professional skill growth required for this position by reading and studying appropriate materials; attending workshops, conferences and retreats; and participating in approved professional organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
  • Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
