We are seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join Wolfgang Puck CUT NY team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in pastry arts with a passion for sweet and delicious creations.
Job Summary: The Pastry Cook's responsibilities are to prepare, setup and serve breads, pastries, desserts, ice creams, sorbets, and special request items in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications.
- Assists in producing and plating pastries, desserts, ice cream and sorbets, and breads for daily lunch and dinner service (for a la carte and PDR menus)
- Understands and maintains all standard pastry recipes.
- Ensures all food supplies necessary for service are in appropriate supply on a timely basis.
- Inspects all food products to ensure high quality and presentation.
- Works well under pressure of meeting production schedules and service timelines
- Able to write, organize and prioritize daily prep lists.
- Performs job functions with minimal supervision.
- Works cohesively with entire culinary staff.
- Maintains food preparation handling and correct storage standards in accordance with NYDOH standards.
- Supports procedures for food & beverage portion and waste controls
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Technical Culinary Program Degree with pastry emphasis
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years pastry experience
- Demonstrate adequate pastry production and plating skills in high-volume, a la carte environment
- Open availability - must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. Most shifts are 3:00pm - 11:30pm.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrate ability to arithmetically convert recipe ingredients according to yield
- Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards
- Ability to prepare and plate desserts, ice cream and sorbets, breads, and simple breakfast pastries.
- Knowledge of maintenance and care of culinary facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standard
- Interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
