A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee and bakeshop, a rooftop pool, an award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces. In addition, a range of community events programming is open to all. All are locally owned and right at the doorstep of Austin's favorite street.Who you are: You are a hard-working creative with a strong eye for detail. You have the patience to make intricate pastries and plate beautiful desserts. You know the enjoyment of a dish comes before a single bite is taken; it is the presentation, history, detail, and story first.What you'll learn: Modernized pastry technique, teamwork, moving with purpose, efficiency, accountability, the creative process from conception to finished product, pastry management, sourcing and inventory, teamwork, and leadership.JOB SUMMARYA Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking dishes promptly and consistently, adhering to the outlet'srecipes and procedures while maintaining Health Department standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices
- Prepare and cook dishes promptly and consistently, adhering to the outlet's recipes and procedures
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper sanitization of work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware
- Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
- Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
- Assist in the restocking and replenishing of supplies
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
- Portion, arrange, and garnish pastry items
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
- Observe and test food items to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as
- tasting, temping, or piercing them with utensils
- Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage
- Assist in the development and implementation of special projects
- Maintain a positive relationship with all employees and guests
- Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email,
- logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the outlet are met
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the work area
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition; Regulate temperature as needed
- Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
- Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
- Attend relevant meetings as directed
