Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Administrator, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs a verbal assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview as well as collects the patient's medical history from previous medical records. The nurse also works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs.Primary Responsibilities:* Assesses patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.* Develops an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.* Implements the plan of care by:* Performing interventions necessary to ensure that the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side and level;* Communicating the patient's current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care;* Assessing the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person;* Providing education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure;* Actively involving the patient or designated support person in decisions affecting his or her perioperative place of care and rehabilitation process;* Protecting the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy;* Providing culturally and age appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice; and* Providing consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.* Evaluates the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.* Transfers care as appropriate.* Delegates tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act.* Documents nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.* Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.* Participates in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement projects.* Participates in Infection Prevention and Control activities.* Participates in the performance appraisal process.* Uses problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.* Maintains required competencies.* Pursues professional growth and continued learning.* Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.Education/Licensure/Certification - required:* Graduate from an accredited school of nursing* Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse License* Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationQualifications - Preferred:* Two years perioperative services experience* Basic computer skills* Strong communication and organizational skillsWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements:* Physically demanding, fast paced, high stress environment* Manual and finger dexterity* Hand and eye coordination* Standing and sitting for extensive periods of time* Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range* Working under stressful conditionsTravel Requirement:* Organization and project specificWe Offer:* Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life & disability, 401(k) with company contribution, paid holidays, & paid time off.* Career experiences that provide team members with opportunities for personal and professional growth in a rewarding work environment.* Opportunities that spark your imagination and ignite your passion for helping others.If you need assistance with this application, please contact (636) ###-####.
