Job Overview: A law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI technologies, with experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. They will collaborate closely with inventors, conduct thorough prior art searches, and stay updated on the latest AI technology and patent laws. The Patent Agent will also liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.

Job Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors to understand new AI technologies and assess their patentability.
  • Conduct and analyze results of prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest AI technology and patent laws.
  • Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML.
  • Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning is required.
  • Experience with AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, optimization, preprocessing data, selecting features, training/tuning models, and deploying models to production environments.
  • Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred.
  • Registered to practice with the USPTO.
  • Active member and in good standing of NY Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar.
  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and patent laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with inventors and clients.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in conducting prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
