General Information Office(s): Boston, MA, Raleigh, NC, RTP, NC Practice Group: Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Team: Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech Department: Patent Agent Date Published: 02-Oct-2024 Description & Requirements Womble Bond Dickinson, a trans-Atlantic law firm with over 1,000 lawyers in 32 UK and US offices, is seeking to hire a Technical Advisor or junior Patent Agent for the firm's Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech Team. This position is located in the firm's Boston or Raleigh office, with hybrid/remote as an option. The person in this role will be supervised by an Intellectual Property Partner and will work with a team of life science legal professionals in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This is an opportunity for a scientist who is interested in pursuing a career in patent law by joining or firm. The scientist will have the opportunity to be trained in patent prosecution. Responsibilities: * Apply advanced concepts across all life sciences field, with particular emphasis and/or expertise in molecular biology and/or cell biology * Study and analyze scientific or technical documents * Draft patent applications * Assist with the prosecution of patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office * Perform prior art searches and analyses, including landscape, patentability, and freedom to operate analyses Qualifications: * An advanced degree (PhD) in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Cell Biology, or a similar biologic science, with excellent academic credentials * Excellent writing and research abilities are a must, as well as proficiency in written and verbal communications * Team oriented If this team sounds like one you would be interested in working with, please submit your resume, a cover letter, and a writing sample (e.g., scientific paper, a published patent application or issued patent).
