Summary:

Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.

Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.

Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.

Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.

Balance the cash and checks each day and prepare the deposits.

Responsible for all patient rescheduling.

Starting Pay: 12/hr

This role often requires working through evening and night times, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Medical office software experience necessary. Uses consistent good judgment and discretion.

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Working knowledge of ICD and CPT medical terminology.

Typing or data entry at 35 wpm.

Knowledge of business office procedures; use of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Prefer 1 year in a medical office/physician practice environment.

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner.

BLS required within 30 days of hire.

High School Diploma.
